Love and Time

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,

"Richness, can you take me with you?"

Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and
silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"

"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat, " Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."

"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you."

It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going.

When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder,

"Who Helped me?"

"It was Time, " Knowledge answered.

"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"

Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

The Rules For Being Human

When you were born, you didn’t come with an owner’s manual; you had to learn the rules the hard way. These rules are intended to help make your life easier.

1.      You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period this time around. You have chosen its shape on a deeper level; you can change it.

2.      You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called life on planet earth. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or
think them irrelevant.

3.      There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of experimentation–trial and error. The so-called failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately “works.”

4.      A lesson is repeated until learned. It will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lessons. If you don’t learn easy
lessons, they become harder. You will know you’ve learned a lesson when your actions change.

5.      Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. Every person, every incident is the universal teacher. If you’re alive, there are lessons to be learned.

6.      “There” is no better than “here.” Nothing leads to hapiness. When your “there” has become a “here” you will simply obtain another “there” that looks better than “here.”

7.      Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate in yourself.

8.      What you create of your life is up to you. Life is like a movie; you may feel like a bit player, but you have the power to become screen writer, casting director, producer, director. It’s your movie. You have all the tools and resources you need; what you do with them is up to you. There are three kinds of people–those who make things happen, those who watch what happens, and those who wonder what happened. Notice that you do have the courage; take charge of your life. If you don’t, someone else will.

9.      Your answers lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust. Then you’ll realize that you are the spiritual being you’ve been seeking.

10.  You will tend to forget all this.
