Love is in the Bag

One of my favorite stories that was written by Ace Vitangcol and produced by Studio Studio…and guess what??? It’s a Filipino Comic drawn in a manga style. Since I love reading Manga’s made by Japanese writers like Detective Conan, One Piece and many more, reading and knowing a Manga made and written by a Filipino makes me feel proud that I’m a Filipina.

Love is in the bag is a story about a timid, 16-year old Kate Mennella and just like any average high school girl from Saint Xander International High: she studies hard and has a crush on their basketball star Calvin Jacobs. Except she has a distinct disadvantage compared to other girls: whenever Kate gets excited, she turns into a bag. To make matters worse, Calvin Jacobs is unbelievably dense, and our poor heroine is completely invisible to him. Unable to do anything, it’s up to Kate’s best friend Kara Francesco and the rest of the gang to step in and get these two lovebirds together—by any means necessary. Lots and lots of awkward situations ensue due to the antics of Kara and her friends, Chloe and Lorelei, in trying to get Kate and Calvin together. Chock-full of silly gags, awkward situations, complicated drama, and tingly romance.

As I read this story I just thought that it is pretty reminiscent of high school life—there’s the awkwardness, crushes on the popular people, cheering for the school team, and bonding time with friends for like 24/7. You can also relate to the characters to the story or may know some people like them. For instance, like Kate who is shy and have her insecurities, like Kara, who always tease her bestfriend whenever her crush is near and makes a way for the guy to notice her, like Mark, who despite of being a popular guy becomes “torpe” when he sees the girl he likes, and lastly like Calvin who despite the obvious signs—is so dense to see that you like him.

Love is in the Bag is a typical love comedy that’s sure to brighten your day…and prove that in love, with the right set of friends, it’s all in the bag.

So if you will ask me if I will recommend this book? Yes. 101% :)
